Pickerel Lake

I took some advice from a friend, and headed down to Pickerel Lake in the Colchester/East Haddem area, after work the other day. There is nothing quite like waiting for wildlife, and having the opportunity of photographing them in their natural habitat.

New Gear

My D40X has started its conversion as an IR camera. $180 will get the glass piece I need to complete it, and then a Hoya 72 IR filter will allow for false color IR images, and the current Tiffen 87 will allow for IR B&W.

In my normal photography, a D80 has taken my D40X's place. Unfortunately, soon after I got my new camera, my 55-200mm lens broke. I've been eyeing a 70-200mm f/2.8 at the local photo store. This might be the perfect time to upgrade.

So far I haven't taken a lot of shots with the D80. Saturday there were some ice runner sail boats on the lake. Here's a shot with my 18-55mm. It's not what I would have liked, but tried to make do with the wide angle.

Motion Photography

Decided to post a shot I worked on tonight, and took the other day. I'm interested in motion photography, so here's a shot I took at work. This is a somewhat busy road, and offers up a lot of opportunities to practice.

Updates Soon

I haven't updated my blog in a while, but updates should be coming soon! My friend and I are planning our Monthly Photo excursion for this upcoming Saturday, which will hopefully yield some good posts.
